About

Origin Story

San Francisco City Academy, a ministry of San Francisco City Impact, was founded in 1997 with one teacher and seven children.

There were no schools in the Tenderloin at the time, and an overall lack of educational resources. The school was founded because of the realization that the children we had been helping on the weekends needed more time to develop and grow.

What We Offer

Throughout each school day, students will engage with standards-aligned content through direct instruction, collaborative group work, and individualized tasks to ensure not just knowledge acquisition, but relevant application.

Our small class sizes allow for individualized attention throughout the learning process, supporting all students to achieve high expectations and develop a strong academic foundation.

We Believe.

SFCA offers a faith-based education for students to develop a strong Biblical and Christ-centered foundation. Students will attend weekly chapels and engage in daily Bible lessons, including worship and prayer. Our teaching staff and school leadership adhere to SFCI's statement of faith and teach and lead students in Christ-centered character, that is infused into all aspects of teaching and learning.

    • The scriptures are inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind

    • There is only one true God - revealed in three persons… Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly referred to as the Trinity)

    • The deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, as God’s son, Jesus was both human and divine

    • Though originally good, man willingly fell to sin, ushering evil and eventual death, both physically and spiritually, into the world

    • Every person can have restored fellowship with God through ‘salvation’ (trusting Christ, through faith and repentance, to be our personal savior). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

    • To practice two ordinances - (1) water baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation, and (2) holy communion (The Lord’s supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation

    • The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation which empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in new testament times. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

    • The initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is ‘speaking in tongues,’ as experienced on the day of pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles

    • Sanctification initially occurs at salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christlike

    • The church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe ‘the Church’ is the body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God’s offer of redemption (regardless of religious denomination) through the sacrificial death of His son Jesus Christ

    • A divinely called and scripturally ordained leadership ministry serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us under leadership must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with fellow believers, to build up or edify the body of believers, and to meet human needs with ministries of love and compassion

    • Divine healing of the sick is a privilege for Christians today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins). [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

    • The blessed hope - when Jesus raptures His Church prior to His return to earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be brought up with them, to be with the Lord forever. [1 of 4 cardinal doctrines of the AG]

    • In the millennial reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace

    • A final judgement will take place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal punishment in a punishing lake of fire

    • And look forward to the perfect new heavens and a new earth that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on earth

GOAL.

Research shows that certain underlying characteristics are necessary for student success. Those characteristics are emphasized throughout the year.

They are how SFCA students hit their G.O.A.L (God first, Ownership, Access & Inclusion, Love your Neighbor).

  • God first. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, and all your strength.” -Mark 12:30
We are authentic, devoted, and passionate about Jesus and His work.

  • Ownership. ”Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know what you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” -Colossians 3:23-24
We take ownership of our work and have the power to make our own choices.

  • Access & Inclusion. “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there mail and email, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galations 3:28
The Gospel is access for all students and we strive to make learning the same, SFCA understands that all individuals learn differently and strive to provide inclusive environments.

  • Love your Neighbor.
”Love your neighbor as yourself.” -Mark 12:31
We love the Tenderloin through providing relief, building relationships and reunion with Jesus.
