Christmas Recital

Our annual City Academy Christmas Recital took place on Thursday, December 15th, 2016.

Our K-8th grade students performed songs, poems, and dances. Families from the community joined us for a fun filled night. What a great way to end the school year!

Our fourth grade class started the show by singing "Trust" by Hillsong Young & Free. Followed by Samantha Martinez who performed a solo dance to Mariah Carry's "All I Want For Christmas". The show ended with a surprise performance that gave the crowd a good laugh.

Thank you to all who came by to show their support, to the teachers who helped put all this together and to the students who spent hours rehearsing to put on such an incredible show.
Have a great Christmas break and Happy Holidays!

Please join us for the Kids Christmas Party on December 25th at 11am on the 200 Block of Jones St.

Harvest Party

On Halloween Day, City Impact youth held it's annual Harvest Party. Over 100 guests attended including children, families, City Academy students and church members each in proper festive attire.

Guests participated in different carnival games, face painting and a spooky House of Doom walkthrough! A halftime message was shared to the guests about unmasking our identities and Christ's love. Food and refreshments were served for guests as well.

Thank you to all guests, volunteers, and parents who helped out for the day. Thank you especially to Laura Osborn and church members who helped fundraise for the event!

City Academy Choir

On Saturday, October 22nd, the San Francisco City Academy Choir performed at the City Impact 2016 Annual Gala. The event was held at Social Hall SF where over 200 people gathered to hear about updates from San Francisco City Impact ministries in including City Academy

Over 15 City Academy students gathered to worship and sing at the Gala, led by 4th Grade Teacher, Lauren Lackey. Check out the video below of the kids choir.

Also 8th grade student El Shaddai was recognized for his growth and achievements, socially, spiritually and academically. El Shaddai shared his story and testimony of his relationship with Christ. "I came to SFCA [San Francisco City Academy]  two years ago and things started to get better. The teacher's never cared about me and never gave up on me. But I still struggled with sin...I was mixed up with the wrong crowd. I needed good role models and that is exactly what I've found at SFCA. I gave my life to Christ on a trip to Fort Bragg with my [SFCA] basketball team last year. I've been going to discipleship group with my PE teacher every thursday. Through discipleship group I learned about Jesus and what he did on the cross for me and forgives me even though I mess up. Because of Jesus and the hard work of the teachers at SFCA I made honor roll this quarter with a 3.8 GPA."

Parent Orientation

On Thursday, July 28, City Academy held it's Parent Orientation for the 2016-2017 school year. Led by school administrator, Pushpa Samuel, many parents and students attended to learn about the year and some of the information offered.

Three new teachers were introduced: Mark Dandan (3rd grade teacher), Lauren Lackey (4th grade teacher) and Claudia Pardo (Interventionist). Students were able to purchase school and P.E. uniforms and received complimentary backpacks and school supplies as a gift from our supporters and donors.

Special thanks to Glide, Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army Kroc Center, and YMCA for joining us for the day.

Summer Camps and New Adventures

Summer camps have been going on during the month of June and have been a wonderful experience for students and school staff to break away from the city. Students have visited from Stanta Cruz, California to North Carolina, and Fort Bragg California. Many students had new experiences either on a plan or climbing or tubing on the water. Students were also able to share with colleagues and counselors in a safe space. Aaron (8th Grade) was able to share his testimony and speak in front of other colleagues and counselors.

Thank you sponsors and donors for helping support and invest in our kids this summer. Special thanks to Camp Cedar Cliff.

Kindergarten Graduation

Supporters, teachers, staff leadership and parents gathered for the Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, June 1. We graduated 15 students who are now moving on to first grade!

Thank you to all the teachers, parents, staff leadership, and School of Ministry students who helped support the kindergarten students this year.
