On Friday, May 26, 2017, teachers, students, sponsors, and family celebrated the graduation of our 8th grade City Academy Warriors! The ceremony was held at Salvation Army Kroc Center and Pastor Roger opened up the evening with prayer. Ms. Nicole Bremner had warm words to share with our students and recognized each of them for their character through the illustration of a candy bar.
Mrs. Elain Chea addressed the 8th grade graduating class 2017 about continuing to learn and keeping their relationship with Jesus Christ first. Mrs. Chea introduced Pastor Malcolm who made a speech to the students and family. Pastor Malcolm grew up in the Tenderloin years ago and is now Lead Pastor of New Life Community Church in Gilroy, California.
"Your past doesn't have to define your future. God is already in your future. He see's right where you are, and he knows right where you're going. If you take your teacher's [Mrs. Chea] advice, and you keep Jesus first, your relationships with Jesus first, He will take you places you could've never imagined." Said Pastor Malcolm.
Pushpa Samuel, City Academy Principal, and Administrator, had wise words to share to the students as well. She made one last declaration of the City Academy Mantra, We are Warriors, to the 8th grade students! One student was recognized as a recipient of the Warrior Award who displayed the City Academy core values: Self Control, Curiosity, Optimism, Resilience, and Empathy.
The award was given to Samantha Martinez for her commitment to these core values throughout the year.
Mrs. Bremner prayed for the students and congratulated each of them as they were handed a graduation certification.
Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, staff and family who attended the ceremony and celebrated the graduating class of 2017! You are forever Warriors and you always have a home at City Academy!
